Labor Day weekend was exciting for the America’s National Teenager queens! On Friday the ANTSO queens arrived in Los Angeles, CA for the first stop on our national media tour. Upon arrival at the gorgeous Sheraton Universal City Hotel the girls were excited to find that they were sharing the hotel with all of the contestants from America’s Got Talent and many Olympic Medalists! The queens were excited to meet some of their teen heroes, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and Olympic gold medalist in wrestling, Henry Cejudo. The girls also got to spend time getting to know contestants from AGT while they were in between show tapings.
Many of the queens arrived early on Friday to tour the great city of L.A. Girls could be found all over the town in crowns and banners walking Hollywood Blvd., visiting Mann’s Chinese Theater, and shopping on Rodeo drive. Some of the girls went on a bus tour, visiting stars homes and famous landmarks across the city. Several of our queens even had the opportunity to meet with execs at CBS and with local talent agents!
Friday afternoon the girls traveled to the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank, CA. The queens spent the afternoon with the children, working on homework, doing crafts, playing HORSE on the basketball court, and signing autographs. The girls were overwhelmed with the reception from the children and were so impressed with the dedication and passion of the Boys and Girls Club Staff. Friday night found the girls visiting Universal City and dining at local “Hot spots”. The night ended with the queens sharing stories from Nationals and reminiscing over a desert reception back at our host hotel.
Saturday morning began early as the girls lined up on the red carpet in front of Universal Studios to take pictures and sign autographs. It was a perfect southern California day and the queens were thrilled to spend it riding rides and watching shows in the park. The girls had a blast getting soaked on the Jurassic Park water ride and being scared silly by The Mummy roller coaster! While at Universal Studios some of our queens even met television star Orlando Brown of “That’s So Raven”.
Exhausted from a weekend of touring, signing autographs, shopping and site seeing, our trip concluded with a goodbye breakfast on Sunday morning. After plenty of hugs were given and photos taken each queen headed back to her part of the country with wonderful memories and energized from spending a fantastic weekend with the ANTSO family!
ANTSO state and national queens hit the streets of New York City in November for its 4th annual “Christmas in the City” promotional trip. All state queens were invited on the trip and it held a record number of attendees this year!
The weekend began Friday with an early morning visit to the Today Show viewing area where the girls hammed it up with Al Roker and famous singers Enrique Iglesias and Grammy Award winner Sean Garrett.
After the TV appearance, the girls shopped throughout the city hitting many boutiques on 5th Ave., in Soho and Chinatown. That evening, the girls all came together to share their stories (and their purchases) at a Holiday Dessert Social at the host Marriott hotel.
Then, we started early Saturday morning boarding our bus for the Children’s Aid Society in Harlem (a division of the Boys and Girls Club, ANTSO’s National Philanthropy). Our queens had fun doing exercises, a runway show, playing and hanging out with the girls at the club. The queens came together and decided to participate in a coat drive for the center, like last year, and started working together to decide how to raise the much-needed coats for the center.
We re-boarded the bus around lunch to head into the city. Once at Rockefeller Center, the girls divided into groups to continue shopping, site-see and view some of the beautiful holiday décor around the city. A 60-degree day in the city (it always is warm in NYC when our queens come to town every November!), our girls enjoyed the day walking the streets, signing autographs and taking pictures. After dinner, we all came together as a group at the famous Radio City Music Hall to watch the Rockettes perform their Christmas Spectacular! An amazing show with a live nativity at the end, it was a truly moving experience for our group.
After the show, we boarded the bus to return to the hotel for the night. And met Sunday morning for a goodbye breakfast at the hotel, before all returning to our respective states.
Yet another wonderful trip and impacting experience for our state queens! Just another wonderful part of this ANTSO opportunity!
